healed.

One of Gideon's diagnoses was multiple heart abnormalities. Those consisted of VSD, Double outlet right ventricle, possible atrial defect, and possible AV canal. Double outlets are generally fatal. We received these diagnoses several times, with different clinics. This was one of the scariest diagnoses. Gideon was surrounded in prayer and even had several members of our church participate in fasting to advocate for him.

The week leading up to our appointment I had had a dream. I heard a voice loud and clear saying that things will be different.

March 6 was our prenatal echo. When our doctor came in, he explained how the heart worked and functioned. We kept waiting for more bad news as he explained the VSD and then nothing else. He found nothing else wrong with his heart that day other than the VSD. Now VSD's are highly common, but so easily fixable - though they do include open heart surgery.

We had a follow up echo after our PICU stay when he was 4 months old, and his VSD began to close. Our cardiologist said he would see us back in sometime after cleft lip surgery. This was amazing news - we knew he would be ok, but now it was starting to close.

Fast forward to last week when we went in for another follow up echo. Gideon did NOT appreciate the ultrasound tech working on him. He was so very worked up (his little nervous system is still sorting itself out and we have to move slowly with him) and moved about a lot. So when our cardiologist came in to talk us, he said there were no good pictures and he was afraid he saw his heart skipping beats. At this point, Gideon had relaxed and fell asleep in my arms. He decided to do a portable echo himself while he was asleep. After that, he wanted to run a 12 lead EKG just to make sure there were no heart issues. The tech preforming the EKG made the comments "I don't see anything here". Our doctor came back in and said that he can not see the VSD at all, he can't hear the murmur and the EKG came back clean. Gideon's heart is fully healed. We will follow up in another 9 months, but we do not believe there will be anything wrong with his little heart.

We sing praises and celebrate another miracle in our little buddy’s life

Here's a fun story about Giddy that happened last week in feeding therapy. Our therapist has to do stretches and exercises and then we do...
